Three Leadership Books for Your Summer Reading Pleasure

Summer is upon us, and a book is an ideal companion while relaxing at the beach, in the mountains, or on your own back porch.  This season of reading provides a prime opportunity to learn and grow in leadership.  If you are looking for enjoyable and quick reads with positive impact, I highly recommend each of these books.

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

The simplicity of this book and its message is what makes it powerful.  Ruiz's wisdom sheds light on the relationship we have with ourself and with others.  I peruse it annually with a different highlighter color to see what speaks to me in the moment.  The result is wonderfully bright, colorful pages reinforcing optimism for the future.

Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom

Albom is a masterful storyteller, and this book is where it all started.  This narrative is ideal for leaders thinking about the bigger picture: what legacy am I leaving and what do I wanted to be remembered for doing?  It provokes thought about a life well lived and the precious gift of time.  What do you want to do for your team to help them learn and grow?

No Ego by Cy Wakeman

Wakeman tackles workplace drama in a refreshingly transparent and honest way.  Bottom line: she has no tolerance for drama when it comes to driving results.  Game changer of a read for leaders who want to move from an environment of entitlement to one of accountability. A refreshing reminder that in leadership, the drama stops with you.
